Opposed to strict lockdown measures he remained with his commitments
Brazilian President, recently showed symptoms of covid-19 infection at home after feeling headaches and sore throat. The exam for coronavirus came early and prevented him from going out. On Tuesday, the 6th, it was already known that he was a confirmed case by the world media. All the the schedule of Jair Bolsonaro was cancelled for the rest of the Week after the appearance of fever symptoms. He is apparently showing more mild signs of the infection and is expected to recover within a few more days.
Test was taken on Monday after fever of 38 degrees
The President has an diary program that is considered a bit busy and he remained like this during the whole time that people were instructed to stay home. He appeared publicly shaking hands with his supporters and also mingling with crowds. Declaring that he also believes that the reason he got infected is related to his public obligations that remained almost without changes since the pandemic appearance. He said that despite the dangers of contracting the disease, he was already expecting that his history as an physically active person would improve his chances of recovery.
He was recently seen on July 4th celebrations
Recently he was seen and pictured at a lunch that was hosted by the US Ambassador. The lunch happened in Brazil and it was a celebration of the 4th of July, an important date for Americans. This is the day of the celebration of the Independence Day of the United States of America. During the celebration the President Jair Bolsonaro and one of his sons were present along with other important members of the Brazilian Government. He has recently declared in a broadcasted interview that he has been taking hydroxychloroquine along with other medication recommended by his Medical Doctors.
Brazil has been hardly hit, by now 1.6 million cases and growing
Many weeks ago people thought they would be reaching the peak of the covid-19 infections and that the curve would rapidly increase; and then fall again. But in the case of Brazil, since the starting of that rising curve, things might be going upwards for long as our population is very vast. But this is not the only reason, people are starting to go out, here and there, and little by little; whole families start to get covid-19 because one of them had to leave the house for work reasons. So, somehow even if some don’t want to admit it, President Jair Bolsonaro has a hint of reason in saying that most people will probably get infected. The whole problem with covid-19 is that the disease is easily transmitted between people, so social distancing might help just to contain the speed of contamination; and that Intensive Care Units can handle the issue. But on the long run, we are all hoping that we might fight it with our immune system or get a vaccine rapidly.
We already have the second largest outbreak, only after the US
The numbers in Brazil are increasing incredibly, we are an Economy which is going through a development period. So people will need somehow to go out and get jobs. Essential businesses need to keep running and even with all the restrictions there is always a risk of infection by the coronavirus. This is the situation where we already know that only efficient medications or a vaccine will put things back on track.
