Receita Federal’s July implementation notice scheduled production systems for 27 July 2026 and the first alphanumeric CNPJ for 31 July. It warned that unadapted applications consuming its services could fail after the production change.
The operational issue reaches beyond the company registration team. Our recommendation is to test supplier and customer onboarding, payroll interfaces, invoicing, banking files and reporting tools wherever a CNPJ is stored or transmitted.
Ask system owners to check validation rules, data imports, spreadsheet templates and exports to overseas headquarters. A screen that accepts the identifier is insufficient if the next interface rejects or alters it.
Use controlled test cases and retain the original identifier throughout the process. Prioritise the interfaces needed for payments, invoicing and statutory reporting, then record vendor confirmation and the outcome of testing.
