AML reporting controls: prepare for 1 October
Resolution dated: 23 September 2026 · DOU publication: 25 September 2026
Effective: 1 October 2026 · Published by Ewaider&Co: 29 September 2026
Banco Central Resolution BCB No. 588 updates specified transaction reporting to Coaf from 1 October 2026. The reporting duty applies to institutions covered by the Banco Central anti-money-laundering framework.
The rule adds cash foreign-exchange transactions of at least US$10,000, or the equivalent in another currency, and virtual-asset transfers to or from self-custodied wallets of at least the equivalent of US$10,000 to the specified reporting categories.
For corporate treasury: Identify whether the company uses these transaction types and confirm the documentation expected by its regulated institution. Keep transaction purpose, counterparties, authorisations and supporting records readily available.
This is not a new direct Coaf reporting duty for every corporate customer and does not prohibit the transactions. Institutions within scope should review reporting procedures and system readiness against the amended Circular No. 3,978/2020.
