Banco Central do Brasil Resolution 603, dated 23 October 2026, adds rules to the Pix Regulation for offering credit while a payer initiates a Pix transaction. The resolution takes effect on 1 July 2027. It is therefore a future implementation requirement, not a current change to ordinary corporate Pix payments.

The offer is optional and may be made only by a Pix participant acting as an authorised transaction-account provider. The underlying credit must be granted by a financial institution authorised by the Central Bank, whether the provider offers it directly or through an allowed partnership or contract.

Before the offer can appear in the Pix journey, the payer must give prior authorisation. That authorisation takes effect 24 hours after it is granted and may be withdrawn at any time with immediate effect. The rule prohibits the offer for scheduled Pix transactions and for Pix cash-withdrawal or change transactions. The credit cannot exceed the value of the Pix transaction.

Covered institutions will also need clear customer information, a simulator and an area for consulting these credit operations in applications used by individuals. The rule requires transaction identification and links returns, including the Special Return Mechanism, to early settlement of the associated credit. Further operational details will depend on the Central Bank’s customer-experience manual and a specific identification document.

Practical action. Institutions planning this product should build a dated implementation matrix covering eligibility, consent timing, disclosure, product limits, app functionality, transaction identification and return reconciliation. Businesses that merely use Pix are not themselves made subject to these product-provider duties.
